About

Light: Bright but indirect

Yuccas will thrive in a spot with bright but indirect light, but can tolerate direct sunlight too. Sit your Yucca in an East or West facing window, or slightly back from a South facing window. During the winter when light levels are lower you may need to place it into a brighter spot. Whilst it will surely tolerate a spot with direct sun, you might find the edges of the leaves turning brown.

Watering: Low

Yucca’s are a tough houseplant and will tolerate long periods of drought. Water freely during Spring and Summer to help your plant thrive, only letting the top couple of inches of soil dry out before you water again. Make sure the plant is never waterlogged at the base or left to sit in water. In winter leave the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Humidity: Low

Yucca’s are used to extreme desert conditions and therefore do not require high humidity. They can handle dry air, and drastic changes in temperature too!

Notes:

Because their broad shape, the leaves of a Yucca tend to gather dust. Wipe the leaves down with a damp cloth if you notice them getting dusty, or with a neem oil and water mix to stave off pests.
