Forest is a family run houseplant, homeware and lifestyle business with two shops in South East London. We pride ourselves on having a friendly, knowledgeable and approachable team who care passionately about providing excellent customer service. We stock an interesting and unusual range of houseplants and source homeware from antiques fairs, local makers, fair trade businesses and design led brands.
Assistant Manager - to start August/September 2026
The Assistant Manager position is a full-time, on-site role based across both our East Dulwich and Deptford shops. This role entails overseeing daily operations, keeping on top of admin and ensuring service standards are consistently met. The Assistant Manager helps supervise team members, provides guidance and feedback, and assists with in-house training.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- monitoring staff performance
- addressing customer inquiries
- packing online orders
- serving coffee
- keeping on top of shop presentation and stock levels
- resolving any issues promptly
- houseplant care and maintenance
- unpacking and organising new stock
- visual merchandising
- maintaining a well-organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to supervise teams, delegate tasks effectively and support staff development.
Stock management and an insight into customer feedback and best sellers.
Maintaining an organised work environment and ensuring the shops run smoothly.
Taking initiative to reach daily targets.
What we're looking for
- Experience in a supervisory, team lead, or coordinator role is beneficial.
- Strong customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable manner.
- Retail experience is a must.
- Someone who enjoys working in a multifaceted role.
- Organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities via effective time management.
- While plant knowledge isn't a necessity, an interest in learning is essential as this is at the core of our business.
- We serve coffee in our East Dulwich shop. We can provide training so while no experience is necessary, a willingness to serve coffee is a must.
