About
Philodendron micans are known and loved for their velvety textured heart shaped leaves, simple care, and fast growing tendencies - even in low light! They're also extremely easy to propagate in water so you can grow (or gift) your collection with ease.
Light: Indirect light or shade
Typically, Philodendron do well in a brightly lit spot with no direct light. They can handle full sun in the early morning and late afternoon but you might see crisping around the edge of the leaves. A shaded spot is fine too, and although growth may be slower it will still be visible. They are an ideal plant for north-facing or light compromised rooms.
Watering: Moderate
In Spring and Summer you should let the top inch or two of soil dry out between waterings, whilst during Autumn and Winter it would be best to let the soil dry at least half way down the pot. The easiest way to check moisture levels is by sticking your finger into the soil to the required depth. The lower the light level, the less watering will be required.
Humidity: Moderate
Philodendron love moisture in the air. No space in your bathroom for more plants? Don’t despair, as most people's homes are humid enough to house one of these unfussy house guests.
Note:
Propagate by leaf cuttings placed into water for speedy results. Re-pot into a multipurpose compost once the roots have grown to a couple of inches in length.
